The Bank has pledged $7,500 to three local organizations in addition to volunteer and fundraising donation commitments

Parkersburg, WV – In the spirit of giving, United Bank is ringing in the holiday season by awarding end-of-year donations to three local Parkersburg organizations. The combined $7,500 donation – split evenly among the Children’s Home of West Virginia, Westbrook Health Services, Inc., and the YMCA of Parkersburg – will continue to help these organizations provide and expand upon their various services and programs for individuals and families in need throughout the local Mid-Ohio Valley community.

Each year, United provides a high-impact donation to local non-profits that share the Bank’s commitment to empowering historically underserved areas and people, as well as making effective changes in and bolstering the local community. This year, the Bank decided to broaden its impact and provide an additional $2,500 to its annual award, a total $7,500 high-impact donation, spread across the three awarded organizations.

Before heading out for the holidays, United Bank representatives presented these three $2,500 donations at recent end-of-year meetings for the organizations, which were attended by business leaders. In addition to taking this opportunity to recognize these organizations for the critical work they are doing in support of the community, United team members were also able to learn about each organization’s current and future initiatives, and the ways United’s donation will contribute to their programs.

Among those organizations chosen to receive a donation is the Children’s Home Society of West Virginia (CHS), a private non-profit that provides comprehensive child welfare, behavioral health, social casework, and advocacy services to children and families across the state.

United Bank has been a faithful partner of the CHS for many years. In addition to charitable donations, the Bank has played a major role in several Children’s Home volunteering efforts, offering hands-on support for various programs. Employees volunteer weekly for the CHS After School Program and participate in the annual Sleepout Fundraiser, which benefits their Transitional Living Program. United has also hosted several drives to collect items for CHS programs, such as diapers and hygiene products, and participates in CHS’ Little Red Stockings fundraiser each Christmas season.

“We have been very fortunate to have developed this wonderful relationship with United Bank that has spanned for over a decade and has included having support from United and its employees for various Children’s Home Society programs,” said Jodi Null, Site Supervisor, The Children’s Home Society. “The partnership we enjoy with the Bank is exceptional and they are wonderfully supportive of our children and families. They have such a heart for the community, and we are blessed they have such a close relationship with us to be able to impact so many in our area.”

This donation from United will go towards CHS’s mission of promoting the well-being of children and families across West Virginia by benefiting a variety of programs offered by their Parkersburg location, including Foster Care and Adoption, Transitional Living, and the Family Support Center.

“At United Bank, caring for the local communities in which we do business is central to our mission. We are constantly looking for ways to give back and move the needle on pressing challenges faced by our communities and seeking local organizations who strive to do the same to partner with,” said United Bank Wood Market President Patrick Bryan. “These high-impact donations recognize the organizations that embody United’s core values of integrity, hard work, teamwork, and caring. We hope that these funds can help them along the way as they continue their work to make positive change in our community.”

For Westbrook Health Services, Inc., an industry leader in providing comprehensive care to individuals with mental health, developmental, substance use disorder, and addiction challenges for more than 70 years, this $2,500 donation from the Bank will help sustain and grow programs that address critical needs for those their organization serves.

“I would like to take a moment to personally thank United Bank for their unwavering partnership and generous investment in our community. Their commitment to supporting Westbrook and our mission to improve the lives of those we serve is truly a blessing,” said Westbrook Health Services President and CEO Kevin Trippett. “Their willingness to go above and beyond to assist us in our work has made a profound impact, not only on our organization but on the individuals and families who benefit from our services. We are deeply grateful for their continued support, and we look forward to strengthening our partnership to create even more positive change in the future.”

The Westbrook team – made up of experienced and compassionate healthcare professionals, counselors, and social workers – works to meet the needs of over 7,000 people throughout the Mid-Ohio Valley annually, providing quality treatment, support, and education. United Bank’s donation will be used to maintain and expand Westbrook’s Paper Pantry Plus program, which provides essential hygiene items to individuals in need. Specifically, the funds will help the organization ensure a consistent and adequate supply of hygiene products, making them accessible to those who might otherwise go without.

The YMCA of Parkersburg also received a $2,500 donation from the Bank. “These funds will be used for centers that coincide with our Toddler Care curriculum,” said CEO, Benton Walker. “This benefits the organization as our two- and three-year-old toddler classes are able to receive more age-appropriate development that better aligns with their specific needs.” This donation not only represents United’s recognition of the valuable work of the YMCA of Parkersburg, but also the Bank’s commitment to joining the organization in their mission. United plans to build upon the partnership with The YMCA in the coming years to better understand and meet the needs of the community, while also looking for future opportunities to help advance the organization’s mission through volunteerism.

In addition to providing financial support for local organizations, United Bank employees play an active role in volunteer efforts across the region and statewide. The Bank is committed to helping communities in a variety of areas including financial literacy, children and education, health, affordable housing, and economic vitality. In the past year, United has volunteered more than 10,000 hours and donated over $1 million to West Virginia charitable organizations. In 2024, United’s 28th annual Kid’s Golf Classic tournament, raised a record $315,000 for the Boys & Girls Club of Parkersburg.

“The Bank’s commitment to providing excellence in service extends beyond banking – it includes giving back to the communities we serve in meaningful ways. We are privileged to be in a position that allows us to make a positive impact through the work we do, and we look forward to future opportunities in the New Year and beyond to contribute to the quality of life for families and individuals throughout the Mid-Ohio Valley and surrounding areas,” said Bryan.
